Jade, stainless steel or ice: which facial roller suits you
Rollers all do broadly the same job — move fluid, feel good, give you a reason to spend five minutes on your face. What differs is how they hold cold, how heavy they feel, and how much upkeep they want.
What a roller actually does
Rolling encourages fluid to move. That is why faces look less puffy after a few minutes, particularly in the morning. It is a temporary, real, visible effect and it is worth having.
What rolling does not do is change the structure of skin. Any claim beyond de-puffing and a pleasant few minutes should be treated with suspicion.
Jade and other stone
Stone feels warmer to the touch than metal and holds cold for a shorter time. It is quiet on the skin and light in the hand, which makes it comfortable for longer sessions.
Stone is also the most fragile option. Dropped on a tiled floor it chips, and it should never go in a freezer, where the cold makes it brittle.
Stainless steel

It is also the easiest to clean: soap, water, dry it properly. There is no sealant or polish to worry about.
Silicone ice rollers
These freeze as a unit and give a much stronger cold sensation than either stone or steel. They are the best option for morning puffiness and the worst for a slow, gentle routine.
Because they live in the freezer they need to be genuinely dry before going back in, or they collect frost.
Gua sha is a different tool
A gua sha stone is worked along the face at an angle rather than rolled. It gives more control and more pressure, and it is the tool people reach for when they want to work along the jaw specifically.

Keeping any of them clean
All of these touch skin, usually with oil or serum on it. Wipe after every use and wash properly every week or so with warm water and a little gentle soap.
